چکیده
The effect of PTFE, continuous boron, and tungsten fibers on the combustion behavior strength reactive Ni–Al compacts was examined in this study. introduction into according to developed scheme found increase flexural from 12 120 MPa. Heat treatment (HT), leading chemical interaction starting components, increases at temperatures not exceeding 550 °C. combination reinforcement HT significantly without reducing reactivity. Experimental results showed that rate with reduction PTFE 1 wt % compacts. A favorable addition 5 10 threshold for shock-wave initiation reactions established. obtained can be used produce materials high mechanical energy characteristics.

Reactive Infiltration Processing and Secondary Compressive Creep of NiAl and NiAl-W Composites
Reactive infiltration processing was used to fabricate bulk NiAl and fiber-reinforced NiAl composites. Homogenous, pore-free materials were obtained by chemical reaction between nickel and aluminum after complete infiltration with liquid aluminum of preforms of nickel wires (containing tungsten wires for the composites) with low surface-to-volume ratio, high permeability, and regular infiltrati...

متن کاملThe wetting behavior of NiAl and NiPtAl on polycrystalline alumina
In order to understand the beneficial effect of Pt on the adherence of thermally grown alumina scales, sessile drop experiments were performed to study the wetting of poly-crystalline alumina by nickel-aluminum alloys with or without platinum addition where the amount of Pt ranged from 2.4 to 10 at.%. Subsequent interfacial structure was evaluated using atomic force microscopy. Platinum additio...
متن کاملCombustion joining of refractory materials
This paper overviews heterogeneous exothermic reactive systems as they apply to the joining of materials. Techniques that are investigated fall under two general schemes: so-called Volume Combustion Synthesis (VCS) and Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis (SHS). Within the VCS scheme, applications that are considered include Reactive Joining (RJ), Reactive Resistance Welding (RRW), and S...
